Silver Peak

This painting, part of the Drops series, takes as its starting point the sinuous forms of the solar evaporation ponds at the Silver Peak lithium mine in Nevada — the only one currently operating in the United States.
Through wood and fragmented geometry, the work translates the abstraction of the industrial landscape into an organic and serene language. The white lines dividing the surface evoke the boundaries of the ponds as seen from above, while the dark tones of the material allude both to the arid desert soil and to the depth of the mineral itself.
The result is a piece that oscillates between cartographic precision and natural contemplation, where matter — the wood — becomes a testament to the connection between Earth’s resources and the human trace in their transformation.
